Ronnie Arnod teaches yoga in her basement. Her husband, Hank, greets students as they enter their home. Before you wonder how good a class can be in a basement, know that this 93-year-old yogi takes her classes by storm. She uses her skills, experience, and humor to create enjoyable sessions.

Arnod learned yoga at the local YMCA in Queens, NY where she was a swimming instructor. She says she teaches with an approach “made up of all things I borrowed from other teachers.”

Her teaching style is a mix of spiritual patter, pragmatic instruction, and comedy.

She gained quite the following.

When she fell and broke her hip last year and had to take time off, people asked for her. When she was ready to return, the YMCA simply hung up posters with her picture and “She’s Back”.

The class ends with refreshments upstairs and the comedy style of the couple. They flirt and poke fun at each other.
